    This constituency covers an approximate area of 1160 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°33'38.5"N 85°57'18.7"E.

    A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Dhanwar constituency, which are: Kodarma, Bagodar, Jamua. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Nawada and Jamui districts of Bihar.

    In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Babulal Marandi of JVM won in this constituency beating Lakshman Prasad Singh of BJP by a margin of 17,550 votes which was 09.24% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Raj Kumar Yadaw of CPMLL was the winner in this seat beating Babulal Marandi of JVM by a margin of 10,712 votes which was 6.06% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Nizamuddin Ansari of JVM won this seat defeating Raj Kumar Yadav of CPIMLL by a margin of 4,973 votes which was 3.41% of the total votes polled for the seat.
