    A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Kodarma constituency, which are: Dhanwar, Bagodar, Barkatha, Barhi. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Nawada and Gaya districts of Bihar.

    In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Dr Neera Yadav of BJP won in this constituency beating Amitabh Kumar of RJD by a margin of 1,797 votes which was 00.88% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Dr Neera Yadav of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Annapurna Devi of RJD by a margin of 13,525 votes which was 6.83% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Annapurna Devi of RJD won this seat defeating Ramesh Singh of JVM by a margin of 17,283 votes which was 11.73% of the total votes polled for the seat.
