Manoharpur comprises of the following areas of West Singhbhum district in the South Jharkhand region of Jharkhand: Manoharpur police station excluding Gram Panchayats Kurtabera, Urkiya, Makaramda, Thalkobad (Part I) and Chhotanagra (Part I)] and Gram Panchayats Beralumin, Jojoda, Serengda, Orenga, Ihilrua, Goilkera, Kuira, Kadamdiha, Dalaikela, Sonua-Iorapokhar, Porahat, Sogoisai, Gudri Iarakel, Asantaliya, Dalki-Gobindpur, Bhalurangi, Harimara, Tunian Gajpur, Bandu, Poronger, Koloeda, Kulda, Bari, Lonjo, Bera Kayam, Mamail, Piring, Komrora, Komrora-Dariyo, Dura­Jante and Banskata in Chakradharpur police station in Chaibasa Sadar sub-division.

    This constituency covers an approximate area of 1250.53 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 22°21'42.8"N 85°10'49.8"E.

    A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Manoharpur constituency, which are: Torpa, Khunti, Chakradharpur, Chaibasa, Jaganathpur. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Sundargarh district of Odisha.

    In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Joba Majhi of JMM won in this constituency beating Gurucharan Nayak of BJP by a margin of 16,019 votes which was 13.24% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Joba Manjhi of JMM was the winner in this seat beating Gurucharan Nayak of BJP by a margin of 16,569 votes which was 13% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Guru Charan Nayak of BJP won this seat defeating Navami Oraon of JMM by a margin of 6,270 votes which was 6.45% of the total votes polled for the seat.
