In the 2009 Assembly elections, Am Prasad Sharma of SDF won this seat defeating Nar Bahadur Bhandari of INC by a margin of 1,266 votes which was 16.6% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly elections, Mani Kumar Sharma of SKM had a vote share of 50.39% in this seat. In 2014, Som Nath Poudyal of SDF secured a vote share of 49.13% in this constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Am Prasad Sharma of SDF got a vote share of 56.37% in Khamdong-Singtam.
