In the 2009 Assembly elections, Ran Bahadur Subba of SDF won this seat defeating Nar Bahadur Bhandari of INC by a margin of 4,119 votes which was 42.16% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In 2014, Ram Bahadur Limboo (Subba) of SDF secured a vote share of 55.4% in this constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Ran Bahadur Subba of SDF got a vote share of 66.5% in Soreong-Chakung.
