    Kangayam Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Tiruppur district in the West region of Tamil Nadu: Kangayam Taluk Perundurai Taluk (Part) Murungatholuvu, Pudupalayam, Nanjai Palatholuvu, Punjai Palatholuvu, Kodumanal, Orathupalayam, Ellaigramam, Ekkattampalayam, Basuvapatti and Kuppuchipalayam villages. Mukasipidariyur (CT), Ottapparai (CT) and Chennimalai (TP).

    This constituency covers an approximate area of 980 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kangayam is: 11°00'30.6"N 77°36'37.4"E.

    According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 77.19%, while it was 78.92% in 2016, and 81.82% in 2011.

    In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Saminathan M P of DMK won in this constituency beating Ramalingam A S of AIADMK by a margin of 7331 votes which was 3.69% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Thaniyarasu U of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Gopi P of INC by a margin of 13135 votes which was 7.12% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Nataraj.Nsn of AIADMK won this seat defeating Videyal Sekar.S. of INC by a margin of 41765 votes which was 26.38% of the total votes polled for the seat.
