This constituency shares an inter-state border with Uttar Pradesh.

    Demographic profile

    There were a total of 2,00,404 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2025 Assembly election in Shahdara Assembly constituency, of which 1,03,325 were male, 97,072 female and 7 of the third gender. In the 2020 Assembly elections, there were a total of 1,89,332 registered voters, of which 99,479 were male, 89,848 female and 5 from the third gender.     In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, Ram Niwas Goel of AAP won in this constituency beating Sanjay Goyal of BJP by a margin of 5,294 votes which was 4.22% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Ram Niwas Goel of AAP was the winner in this seat beating Jitender Singh Shunty of BJP by a margin of 11,731 votes which was 9.92% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In 2013, Jitender Singh Shunty of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Narender Nath of INC by a margin of 15,117 votes which was 14.31% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2008 Assembly elections, Dr Narender Nath of INC won this seat defeating Jitender Singh Shunty of BJP by a margin of 1,536 votes which was 1.76% of the total votes polled for the seat.
