Godda comprises of the following areas of Godda district in the Santhal Parganas region of Jharkhand: Godda police station (excluding Gram Panchayats Burhikura, Dammajhilua, Sandrnara, Nonbatta, Makhni, Pathra and Punsiya) and Pathargama police station in Godda sub-division.

    This constituency covers an approximate area of 479.63 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 24°53'14.3"N 87°13'14.2"E.

    A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Godda constituency, which are: Mahagama, Borio, Barhait, Poreyahat. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Banka district of Bihar.

    According to data released by the Election Commission of India, in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, the estimated voter turnout in this Jharkhand constituency was 69.67%.     In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Amit Kumar Mandal of BJP won in this constituency beating Sanjay Prasad Yadav of RJD by a margin of 4,512 votes which was 02.36% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Raghu Nandan Mandal of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Sanjay Prasad Yadav of RJD by a margin of 34,486 votes which was 19.27% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Sanjay Prasad Yadav of RJD won this seat defeating Raghu Nandan Mandal of BJP by a margin of 8,755 votes which was 6.25% of the total votes polled for the seat.
