    A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Jharkhand share borders with Nala constituency, which are: Dumka, Sarath, Jamtara. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Pashchim Bardhaman and Birbhum districts of West Bengal.

    In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Rabindra Nath Mahato of JMM won in this constituency beating Satyanand Jha of BJP by a margin of 3,520 votes which was 02.01% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Rabindra Nath Mahto of JMM was the winner in this seat beating Satya Nand Jha of BJP by a margin of 7,015 votes which was 4.21% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Satyanand Jha of BJP won this seat defeating Rabindra Nath Mahato of JMM by a margin of 3,948 votes which was 3.25% of the total votes polled for the seat.
