Ranni Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Pathanamthitta district in the Travancore region of Kerala: Ezhumattoor, Kottanad and Kottangal Panchayats in Mallappally Taluk and Ayiroor, Naranammoozhi, Ranni-Angadi, Ranni-Pazhavangadi, Ranni-Perunad, Cherukole, Ranni, Vadasserikkara and Vechoochira Panchayats in Ranni Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 456 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Ranni is: 9°22'51.6"N 76°50'39.1"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 63.83%, while it was 70.43% in 2016, and 68.54% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Adv Pramod Narayan of KCM won in this constituency beating Rinku Cherian of INC by a margin of 1285 votes which was 1.01% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Raju Abraham of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Mariamma Cherian of INC by a margin of 14596 votes which was 10.9% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Raju Abrham of CPIM won this seat defeating Pilipose Thomas of INC by a margin of 6614 votes which was 5.5% of the total votes polled for the seat.
