Chiplun comprises of the following areas of Ratnagiri district in the Konkan region of Maharashtra: Chiplun Tehsil (Part) Revenue Circle Kalkavane, Shirgaon, Savarde, Chiplun and Chiplun (MC), Sangameshwar Tehsil (Part) Revenue Circle, Makhajan, Kadvai, Phansavane, Vashi Tarfe, Sangameshwar, Devrukh, Angavali.

    This constituency covers an approximate area of 1606.19 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 17°16'59.9"N 73°36'33.8"E.

    In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Shekhar Govindrao Nikam of NCP won in this constituency beating Chavan Sadanand Narayan of SS by a margin of 29,595 votes which was 16.63% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Chavan Sadanand Narayan of SS was the winner in this seat beating Shekhar Govindrao Nikam of NCP by a margin of 6,068 votes which was 3.62% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Chavan Sadanand Narayan of SS won this seat defeating Kadam Rameshbhai Ramchandra of NCP by a margin of 18,484 votes which was 12.18% of the total votes polled for the seat.
