In the 2009 Assembly elections, Tilu Gurung of SDF won this seat defeating Suk Bdr Tamang of INC by a margin of 3,211 votes which was 35.26% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly elections, Sanjeet Kharel of SKM had a vote share of 53.59% in this seat. In 2014, Tilu Gurung of SDF secured a vote share of 53.84% in this constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Tilu Gurung of SDF got a vote share of 65.76% in Namthang-Rateypani.
