This constituency covers an approximate area of 490 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Arani is: 12°40'03.0"N 79°16'55.2"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 79.84%, while it was 81.85% in 2016, and 83.65% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, S Ramachandran of AIADMK won in this constituency beating S S Anbalagan of DMK by a margin of 3128 votes which was 1.42% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Ramachandran, S of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Babu, S of DMK by a margin of 7327 votes which was 3.5% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Babu Murugavel.R.M of DMDK won this seat defeating Sivanandham.R of DMK by a margin of 7966 votes which was 4.48% of the total votes polled for the seat.
