    In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Dr Paarivendhar, T R of DMK won in this seat defeating Sivapathy, N R of AIADMK by a margin of 4,03,518 votes which was 36.59% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 61.98% in 2019 in this seat.

    In 2014, R P Marutharajaa of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Seemanur Prabu, S of DMK by a margin of 2,13,048 votes which was 20.67% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 44.89% in the seat.
